Class 1
On first entering Second Life i felt like i had stumbled upon the dark web where guns, drugs and people were sold. The last time i had played in a virtual online world was when i was still aged by single digits playing Moshi monster and club penguin, a far cry from second life. When i first began exploring the world i couldn't understand why people would want to spend time in this world rather then the one outside but the more i played it began to make more sense. The different worlds and structures that people had created were astounding. I had no idea anything like this was possible. That certainly is something that makes sense to me. The barriers of face to face interactions are also lifted in second life making it easier to talk to people. It seems to be a very social pastime where there are interesting people but also one to avoid, the ones in latex.
The Valley
After the lecture had concluded Rachel, another girl who's name has slipped my mind and i explored the worlds further. This is when i found these amazing structures. The first world we went to was an icy, mountainous, shopping center, ballroom hybrid. This was the first world in which i had been in that wasn't designed by Second Life. Upon arriving in the world we found it difficult to figure out what the world was or what is was used for. There was no one else in the world that we could see. I didn't like how all over the place the world seemed. We teleported above rows of snowy steps and walked down to a ballroom in which you could request to play music, something i did not know was possible. We then walked through a door and entered into a bleak shopping centre. We then went through another door and we walked out into a snow capped valley. It was the most amazing space i had seen in second life yet.

Miami
The next world we went to was Miami. This world was far more organised then the previous. I liked the attention to detail payed in this world from sewage covers to half filled glasses on the bars. When we got to the beach again i was amazed at the vastness of the world. My avatar was slower in this world and it lagged a lot. I presume this had something to do with the amount of people in the world. All of our avatars were lagging so we left this world. I liked this world because of its sheer scale. All that was missing was the 30 degree heat and a light tropical breeze.

The final world i visited was an editors pick. A mansion wedged in a valley. I only came across one other person in this world. This world like Miami was organised and detailed. This world didn't lag as much as Miami just the usual walking through walls or falling through the ground which i've gotten used of. In this final world i felt i was getting to use the controls better and understanding second life to a certain extent.

I found teleporting through the different worlds to be interesting. I still feel like i do not fully understand the platform or what people get out of the game but i would like to find out. I would also like to know how people are able to build in the game as it is something i would love to do. There is so much more to the platform that i still have not discovered but would like to.
